The Centre for Entrepreneurship at False Bay TVET College is an incubator for innovation and creation. Our task was to create an incubator which would cultivate inspiration, new ideas and serve as a space where these ideas could be made into a reality.
Our challenge was to build this centre using aesthetic influences from the existing college campus, as well as the creative objectives of the incubator. Our team demolished a section of the campus which would be converted into the Centre for Entrepreneurship.
Great care needed to be taken for the health and safety aspect while building within the college, because this was a live environment our team needed to be able to work carefully while students and staff were using the facility on a daily basis. We constructed this space from conventional building materials and worked alongside other groups and associates who assisted in supplying various materials needed.
This space encompasses creative pods, which are colourful and well designed rooms, where anything from meetings, brainstorming, relaxation and even study sessions could be held.
Not only does the incubator have these spaces for inspiration it also has a technical space. We constructed the technical space to house machinery, but also to be used as an assembly line when products that were made by the incubatees needed to be assembled.
Build through knowledge
Our construction expertise was not the only resource needed by the college. We had the opportunity to lecture students who were interested in the construction industry. The main objective of the Centre for Entrepreneurship at False Bay TVET College is to incubate students who desire to have their own skills based business. This initiative goes hand in hand with the vision False Bay TVET College.
As a construction company we pride ourselves on our quality of workmanship. So, to build a space that inspires and produces future businesses such as ours, harmonizes with our vision.
